What is GNO?
Global Noise Online (2005.10 – ) is an information center of sound art/new media art, with an emphasis on China and other developing areas in the world.
GNO is aiming at bridging the gap between the sound art/new media art scenes of developing countries and the western perception of them. It serves as a centralized information pool of the scene in countries that, despite their emerging creativity in the realm of sound art/new media art, suffer from the lack of wider exposure due to political inferiority.
GNO is not an “objective” blog, there are no “pure, non-biased information” here, if such a thing does exist at all. Comments from individual contributors will be added (as in most of the blogs). However, we don’t have bigotry towards any artists, genres or organizations, it’s our mission to provide the full spectrum of information about the media art scene of the developing areas.
